I don't write reviews; I don't like to tell anyone else what to think about a book. But I'll tell you what I think...I loved it! Norwegian by Night is still my all-time favorite book. And getting more of Sheldon is a gift. I will offer one fun bit of dialog from the book (of which there are many!):“That’s nuts,” said Sheldon. “It is. It’s also true. Most things are nuts and true.” “If that was true,” said Sheldon, framed by her hair that smelled like almonds and chamomile, “that would be nuts.” “Now you’re getting it.” If you read this book, you won't be sorry. Five stars. I couldn't get enough of it because it was written for me. An 82 year old American Jew. A Jew who bleeds red white and blue. An assimilated Jew that loves America. But one who is abscessed at the universal Jew hatred that presently exists and has for thousands of years. A Jew who is haunted by the holocaust and Americas and the world's indifference to it it. Notwithstanding my success and love of country I am still "the other" I "fit in "but it isn't always easy. So these themes resonate with me. The sell out Jew, the casual Jew the militant Jew are all there. The plot is a little convoluted but this is fiction and the author is a good story teller. Great book for me.
