The premise for this sounded interesting and it is described as laugh out loud funny. There were some humorous scenes but they kind of felt contrived and I think some/most of the stuff that happened after Panera was supposed to be funny. Unfortunately I didn't find any of it funny.I also didn't find the mystery part very satisfying or exciting and never felt any tension or worry for Finlay. Her judgment of situations was way off and she didn't react or process things the way most people would. I know it's fiction but considering the nature of some of the things Finlay and Vero did together the lack of a normal emotional response is concerning.The book was a little too long as I felt there was a lot of unnecessary description. It was slightly boring at times too.The transitions between scenes and chapters could have been better and the "end" felt like the end at least 3 times.I wouldn't describe this as a bad book. The opening lines are great and there is a good cliffhanger. There is some snappy dialogue and I liked Steven's unique job. I actually wouldn't have minded more description on that. The rest just didn't work for me. Murder farce is my new favorite genre. Finlay Donovan is a divorced mom in over her head, as neatly introduced in the first paragraph. One thing leads to another and someone mistakes her for an assassin. One thing leads to another and she has accidentally assassinated someone. One thing leads to another and... Everything just keeps piling up in hilarious ways and you'll never want to get off this rollercoaster. Everything wraps up in a satisfying way and then we get a delicious teaser for the next book -- or at least there had better be a next book! It was a delight from start to finish and I'm still laughing about that one scene with plastic wrap.
